Gary Neville shared that Aaron Ramsdale was ‘celebrating’ Ben White’s ‘wild’ and ‘reckless’ challenge on Joe Gelhardt during Arsenal’s 4-1 win over Leeds, as he told Sky Sports on commentary.

The Sky pundit stated that it was ‘definitely’ a penalty for Leeds during yesterday’s defeat, after White took out the Leeds teenager in an unnecessary fashion in the 74th minute.

Even though Gelhardt was probably running the ball out of play, White came steaming in and took the player out, as the referee didn’t hesitate to point to the spot.

In the end, it didn’t prove to be costly for Arsenal, even though many felt the game was still done at 3-1 because Mikel Arteta’s side then went on to score a fourth moments later.

Neville shared his thoughts on White’s tackle and Ramsdale’s reaction moments after it.

“Ramsdale was celebrating with Ben White as if he had made a fantastic challenge,” said Neville. “But the referee had pointed to the spot.

“I have to say my initial reaction was that it was a wild and reckless challenge from White from inside the box. It’s definitely a penalty. A really poor challenge from Ben White.”

In truth, it was just Ramsdale being super positive because he has showcased that ever since he was walked through the club’s doors.

Even though many questioned the shot-stopper, his transfer fee and why the Gunners were purchasing a keeper that had been relegated twice, he has been outstanding since day dot.

The England goalkeeper has played a big part as to why the Gunners are sitting in fourth spot and gone from losing their first three matches to Champions League challengers.

The key thing now is to produce the goods against the teams they aren’t expected to beat and also showcase real signs of consistency and get the job done during the second half of the campaign.
