Pundit Gary Neville has told Sky Sports’ coverage of Tottenham Hotspur v Manchester City (86 minutes) that he was impressed with a number of Spurs defenders.

Jose Mourinho’s men ran out 2-0 winners on Saturday evening, as Son Heung-min opened the scoring inside the first five minutes.

Substitute Giovani Lo Celso then sealed all three points with a smart finish past Ederson, securing a second 2-0 win over City in 2020.

Spurs now sit top of the Premier League table with that win, and Harry Kane has been receiving all the plaudits for another superb performance.

However, Neville felt there were four other ‘outstanding’ performers in the Spurs side, starting with centre back Eric Dier.

Neville felt that Dier made ‘crucial’ blocks and showed real composure throughout, whilst Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Moussa Sissoko also earned praise.

Neville picked out summer signing Sergio Reguilon too, praising him as ‘really good’ at left back as the Spaniard continues to shine.

“Dier has been good at centre back today, he’s made some crucial blocks, shown composure in his defending,” said Neville. “The outstanding performers for Tottenham have been Dier, Hojbjerg, Sissoko… Reguilon at left back has been really good, and obviously Kane,” he added.
