Manchester City were supposed to take on Everton on Tuesday night, but the game was called off late in the afternoon.
Pep Guardiola’s men were gearing up for a trip to Goodison Park, seeking to build on their 2-0 Boxing Day win over Newcastle United.
However, the global pandemic claimed the game as its new victim, with City confirming that they had returned a number of positive cases ahead of kick off.
With a risk of the virus spreading, the Premier League’s medical advice was to cancel the game, meaning it must now be rescheduled.
Everton don’t seem best pleased though; their statement suggested that they are requesting ‘full disclosure’ of the information City gave the Premier League.
This situation seemingly won’t go away any time soon, and the outbreak at City likely means that Sunday’s game with Chelsea and next Wednesday’s Carabao Cup clash with Manchester United will likely be postponed too.

This brings up a very interesting subject. Leyton Orient were forced to forfeit a Carabao Cup clash against Tottenham earlier in the season due to an outbreak, so will City have to deal with the same ramifications?
Pundit Gary Neville took to Twitter to suggest that Orient will be watching the situation very closely, seemingly wanting to see City forced out of the competition if the same rules apply to the big boys as the lower league sides.
