Pundit Gary Neville cannot believe what he’s hearing from Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp as he called for a replay against Tottenham Hotspur.

Liverpool have ‘grabbed defeat from victory’ in their handling of the VAR drama from Saturday’s game against Tottenham Hotspur.

That’s the view of pundit Gary Neville, who has taken to Twitter after hearing Jurgen Klopp’s comments this afternoon.

Liverpool lost 2-1 at Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, but only after a controversial set of events.

Curtis Jones was sent off in the first half and Diogo Jota was given his marching orders for two yellow cards after the break.

The big point of contention is that Luis Diaz had a goal incorrectly ruled out for offside, with the PGMOL admitting a significant error in communication from the VAR team.

Jurgen Klopp calls for Tottenham v Liverpool replay

The inquest into this whole saga has been rumbling on for days now with Liverpool demanding the audio from the VAR communication to be made public.

That happened on Tuesday and Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has now offered his take on the situation.

Klopp has told Sky Sports that he thinks the only fair outcome here would be to replay the game.

Klopp accepts that some might not agree with him but believes that it’s the right think to do for football.

This would be an absolutely unprecedented situation and it would be a shock to see the Premier League rule in favour of a replay.

Klopp has publicly called for one though and that means the debate continues to rumble on and on.

Gary Neville reacts to Klopp comments

Gary Neville has now offered his view on Klopp’s comments having taken to social media this afternoon.

Neville can’t believe what he’s hearing, believing that Liverpool are grabbing defeat from victory in this debate.

We can only assume that Neville believes Liverpool were rightfully earning sympathy from Saturday’s drama but their handling of the situation – demanding for the VAR audio to be released, threatening to ‘escalate’ the situation, now calling for a replay – means that many will change their opinions.

Neville added that Liverpool were ‘wronged’ by the situation but that should be the end of the situation and the Reds should move on.

Neville has added that the calls for a replay are ‘madness’, seemingly believing that Klopp should have no chance of getting the replay he wants.
