Arsenal did their job by beating Everton, but Manchester City also got over the line against West Ham United.
Before a ball was kicked, many were backing Manchester City to do the job, show no nerves, seal the win and make history in English football.
Inside 18 minutes, Phil Foden had scored two goals and Arsenal fans were not even allowed to believe or dream of the unthinkable.
Yes, the Hammers provided a scare when Mohammed Kudus scored a sensational overhead kick just before half-time, but it was never going to worry this Manchester City team.
Rodri made sure there were no nerves heading into the final moments of the game when he made it 3-1 – and now they can do the double if they beat Manchester United in the FA Cup final.
Gary Neville and Thierry Henry shared their thoughts on the title win and how it’s an ‘incredible achievement’.
The Manchester United legend couldn’t help but aim a subtle dig by stating ‘you can’t take anything away from them, from a sporting perspective’, as he told Sky Sports (19/05/24 at 5:55 pm).
Of course, that’s in reference to the 115 charges hovering above the club’s head.
When Henry reacted to Arsenal missing out on the title, he referred to the defeat to Aston Villa and how that proved to be costly.
But the legendary forward also made it clear that ‘when Pep arrived, I said this is over for everybody’, and he has been proven right.
Manchester City win four Premier League titles in a row
“It’s an incredible achievement, listening to Pep Guardiola before the game talking about the most important characteristics being mentality and never feeling like they have achieved when they win one, two or when they win three,” said Neville.
“They come back. Day after day. Week after week. Month after month. Season after season and repeat their standards. Consistency. They are reliable. They are playing at such a high level you can’t take anything away from them, from a sporting perspective. A huge step forward for Arsenal this year, but they are up against one the best managers [Pep Guardiola] we have ever seen.”
Henry stated on Premier League Productions (19/05/24 at 6:05 pm). “Arsenal did what they had to do on the day. Like I said before, it’s not in your hands even if you win the game. You’d have to wait and see what happened at the Etihad. It’s not an easy one. We can put it to an ‘at least you pushed Man City all the way.’ I go back to the Villa game, you don’t give Man City the chance to have the title in their hands – Man City always bring you back to reality because they win. This is why when Pep arrived, I said ‘this is all over for everybody’.”

What next for Arsenal?
Lick your wounds and enjoy Euro 2024. A number of Arsenal players will be looking to guide their nation to the main crown, including Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka.
And then, they need to re-focus on the next season. Liverpool went two seasons without winning the title, before they ended Man City’s dominance.

Perhaps, Arsenal will earn their luck and get their much-wanted title next season because they have made very few mistakes this term.
A lot of eyes will be on the upcoming summer transfer window and the road they go down – there is already noise around Bayer Leverkusen star, Jeremie Frimpong, as HITC have revealed.
