Liverpool face the daunting prospect of a trip to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United on Saturday.
Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville explained why he fancies Manchester United to beat Liverpool at Old Trafford on Saturday, when speaking exclusively to Sky Sports.
The Red Devils head into the game one place and two points ahead of their bitter rivals in the Premier League table, and the outcome of Saturday’s match will have huge ramifications in the race for second place.
Jürgen Klopp’s side are in better form than Jose Mourinho’s men on paper, and a win at Old Trafford would take them above United in the table.
Neville, who made 591 appearances for the Red Devils, explained why the Merseyside outfit could find it tough going against United on Saturday, when speaking exclusively to Sky Sports:
“I always fancy United at home. With Liverpool you have to get through that first half an hour, especially at Anfield, where they are a completely different proposition. I’ve always thought that for Liverpool away from home they struggled with the size of the pitch, despite them not being hugely different on paper. It’s a lot harder for United to play at Anfield and a lot harder for Liverpool to play at Old Trafford, so I fancy United to win.”
Liverpool have one of the most dangerous front-lines in European football, but their defence remains a real weak-link, so Klopp’s men will have to take the game to United, if they are to have any chance whatsoever of leaving Old Trafford with anything to show for their efforts.
Mourinho’s side have lost just once at home in all competitions since September 2016, however, and the Portuguese’s side will be confident in their chances of stretching their lead over Liverpool in the table.
