Gary Neville praised Tottenham Hotspur head coach Nuno on Sky Sports Premier League (6:09pm, September 19, 2021) during the match against Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea.

The former Manchester United defender was on co-commentary duty for the London derby between Tottenham and Chelsea at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

In the 81st minute of the Premier League game, Neville praised Spurs head coach Nuno for his tactics in the first half.

The Sky Sports pundit added that Tottenham lost the game because of the chances they did not take.

Spurs lost 3-0 to Chelsea.

Neville said on Sky Sports Premier League (6:09pm, September 19, 2021): “They (Tottenham) are playing against a really good team.

“Well done to Nuno for his tactics at the start of the game because I do think it caught Chelsea out.

“But not taking a chance or scoring in that first half was always going to cause a problem as the game went on.”

Game of two halves?

Tottenham did well in the first half and had chances to score.

Chelsea manager Tuchel was forced into making a change at half time due to Spurs’ tactics.

N’Golo Kante came on for Mason Mount, and that really saw the Blues take control of the game.

The second half was all about Chelsea stepping up their game and taking their chances.

Of course, Spurs players did not help themselves by making mistakes from set pieces, but Chelsea showed their superiority in the second period.

It is no shame to lose to a team as strong as Chelsea even at home, and while Spurs head coach Nuno should be praised for the first half, you have to ask why he did not play Harry Kane down the middle and left him out wide.
