Gary Neville has noted that Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli was not happy when he was coming off against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium.

The former Manchester United defender has suggested that Martinelli was right to be annoyed.

So, what has Gary Neville said about Gabriel Martinelli? Let’s take a look.

Gabriel Martinelli stars for Arsenal vs Liverpool

Well, Arsenal beat Liverpool 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium in North London on Sunday evening.

I think that Arsenal were the better team in the Premier League game and deservedly picked up all three points from the encounter, although the manner in which they conceded the goal was really poor.

One of the best players on the pitch was Gabriel Martinelli. The Brazil international was electric against Liverpool, with the pace of the winger creating all sorts of problems for the Reds’ defence.

Martinelli created a very good chance for Bukayo Saka in the first half and scored midway through the first half when he took advantage of a defensive mix-up between Virgil van Dijk and Alisson.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta decided to take off Martinelli and brought on Leandro Trossard on 74 minutes.

Gary Neville makes note on Martinelli

Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville was on co-commentary duty for the match on Sky Sports, and he noted that Martinelli looked upset when he was coming off.

Neville said about Martinelli Sky Sports Premier League (6:03 pm, February 4, 2024) when he was coming off: “I am not surprised that he is upset. He was such a threat.”

No player wants to be substituted, and Martinelli was playing well when Arteta decided to take him off.

While Martinelli was not happy when he was coming off, he will surely respect Arteta’s decision.

The Brazil international winger is back in form now, and Arteta needs to protect him and make sure that he does not get injured.

After all, Arsenal need Martinelli fit, available and at the top of his game in the coming weeks and months. They have a Premier League title to win.
