Gary Neville has named players from Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Southampton and Tottenham in his Premier League Team of the Season so far.
Pundit Gary Neville has offered his Team of the Season so far to Sky Sports – and Tottenham left back Danny Rose has made it into his XI.
Liverpool beat Everton 1-0 at Goodison Park on Monday evening, meaning that every Premier League team has played 17 games this season, and with no more football until after Christmas Day, pundit Neville has been asked for his Team of the Season so far.

Unsurprisingly, league leaders Chelsea dominate the former Manchester United star’s XI. Blues goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, defenders Cesar Azpilicueta and David Luiz, midfielder N’Golo Kante, winger Eden Hazard and striker Diego Costa were all included by Neville after Antonio Conte’s men racked up a tenth straight victory with a 1-0 win at Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Southampton star Virgil van Dijk partners Luiz in the heart of defence having been arguably the Premier League’s best centre back this season, with Tottenham left back Danny Rose rounding out the defence.
Tottenham’s Danny Rose
Liverpool’s Adam Lallana, Manchester City’s Fernandinho and Manchester United hitman Zlatan Ibrahimovic finish off Neville’s team, with no place for any Arsenal players, or the likes of Sadio Mane, Philippe Coutinho and Kevin De Bruyne.
From a Tottenham perspective, they’ve only lost twice in the Premier League this season, but last season’s star performers Toby Alderweireld and Harry Kane have both been out injured recently, and left back Rose is the standout candidate for any Team of the Season so far.
Rose, 26, has been simply exceptional for Tottenham this season, proving himself to be the Premier League’s top left back, and he even scored the match winning goal for Spurs in the 2-1 victory over Burnley on Sunday.
Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, right back Kyle Walker or even midfielder Victor Wanyama could stake claims to be included, but Neville’s inclusion of Rose is another sign that the Spurs ace is playing the best football of his career so far – and manager Mauricio Pochettino deserves huge praise having developed and improved the defender over the last two years.
