Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton players were named in Gary Neville’s Premier League team of the season.
Gary Neville has revealed his Premier League Team of the Season in the Telegraph.
The ex-Manchester United defender has found room for Southampton’s Jose Fonte and Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane in a team that is dominated by Chelsea players.
The Blues appear to be cruising towards the Premier League title and the class they have in their squad is reflected in Neville’s team.
Neville’s picks can be seen below:
Goalkeeper: David De Gea – Manchester United
The Spaniard has been in superb form for Manchester United, single-handedly winning them points in some of their matches this campaign.
Right-back: Branislav Ivanovic – Chelsea
Ivanovic has scored some vital goals for Chelsea this season, but he remains one of the most defensively secure full-backs in the league.
Centre-back: Jose Fonte – Southampton
The Southampton defender has been a revelation this season and has been a major reason behind Ronald Koeman’s side’s success. The Saints have one of the strongest defences in the Premier League and Fonte has been hugely important for them.
Centre-back: John Terry – Chelsea
Despite being a veteran campaigner now, Terry is showing no signs of age and is still England’s finest defender.
Left-back: Cesar Azpilicueta – Chelsea
The third member of Chelsea’s backline to make the team, Azpilicueta is a reliable performer for Jose Mourinho’s side.
Left-midfielder: Eden Hazard – Chelsea
The star-turn of Chelsea’s team, Hazard has been a regular source of goals and assists.
Central-midfield: Nemanja Matic – Chelsea
For all of Chelsea’s attacking talent, they would not function as well without Matic’s discipline in midfield.
Central-midfield: Cesc Fabregas – Chelsea
The Spanish international has reminded everyone of his quality in his first season back in the Premier League. He is a regular creator of goals for the Blues.
Right-midfield: Alexis Sanchez – Arsenal
Sanchez has been sensational for Arsenal in his first season in England and looks a to be a player they can build their team around for the years ahead.
Striker: Harry Kane – Tottenham Hotspur
Kane has scored 29 goals in what has been a brilliant breakthrough season for the 21-year-old.
Striker: Diego Costa – Chelsea
His bludgeoning style has been perfectly suited to Premier League football.
