Gary Neville has said that the perfect candidate to become the next Chelsea manager is former Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino.

As recently as on Saturday, it was reported that Daniel Levy still has his sights set on appointing the Argentine as the long-term successor to Antonio Conte.

But it seems Gary Neville believes Tottenham Hotspur legend Mauricio Pochettino would be the best fit to become the next Chelsea manager.

Neville tips Tottenham manager target Pochettino for Chelsea job

The former Paris Saint-Germain tactician’s appointment almost seemed ideal from a Spurs perspective, as he knows the ins and outs of the club and has perhaps been their best manager in the Premier League era.

But simultaneously, the temptation of working under an owner as ambitious as Todd Boehly must be sizable, which Pochettino will know as he had a shoestring budget in N17, despite being ‘one of the best managers in the world, if not the best’ as per Harry Kane via Sky Sports.

As Graham Potter was sacked until very recently by Chelsea, Gary Neville has said that Tottenham manager target Mauricio Pochettino should join his former club’s arch-rivals.

“Everything that Chelsea are saying and [Todd] Boehly is saying; they’ve spent £600 million and they’ve done their spending, apart from a centre-forward for the last three years. If they sign [Zinedine] Zidane, [Diego] Simeone, [Luis] Enrique, they’re going to want another £300 million because they won’t like some of the players they’ve signed.”

“They’re going to have to appoint a manager, who’s going to inherit and like that they’ve got. I think that man, as the lot of them are young is [Mauricio] Pochettino”, he said on Sky Sports.

Whether Mauricio Pochettino wants to take on the advice sought by Gary Neville by becoming the new Chelsea manager or return to Tottenham remains a difficult decision.

After his reputation took pelters after an unsuccessful spell at PSG, there is a sense that Pochettino’s stock could well and truly plummet if he does not impress in his next managerial endeavour.
