Gary Neville told Saturday Night Football on Sky Sports that Liverpool will ‘prefer’ to play Leeds United at Elland Road rather than at Anfield later on this month.

Liverpool will travel to Leeds on April 19 looking to keep their hopes of finishing in the top four alive – but they have some seriously tricky fixtures before that, including locking horns with a certain Real Madrid.

The English champions have lost a remarkable six Premier League home games on the bounce, including most recently to relegation-threatened Fulham.

And given that Liverpool have looked better on their travels during this injury-hit and troublesome campaign, Neville thinks Jurgen Klopp’s men would like the idea of playing in Yorkshire rather than Merseyside.

Martin Tyler on Liverpool’s upcoming fixtures: “A couple of tricky ones, away to Leeds, who can beat anyone on their day and, of course, away to Manchester United with all the history that brings.”

Neville then added: “They would probably prefer to play Leeds away than they would at Anfield.”

For those teams fighting for something, whether it be Europe or relegation then Leeds are perhaps one of the worst teams to face now.

Even on a difficult day for themselves, Leeds are still on the front foot and provide all-action entertainment for their fans.

So, with Leeds safe from the drop, they can just go full throttle at teams with their 100 miles per hour style and it’s going to make life pretty difficult for a number of teams.
