Gary Neville has been one of the most vocal pundits against the new Super League proposal.

News broke on Sunday of 12 clubs around Europe seeking to form a new league, with Neville commentating on Manchester United v Burnley at the time.

Neville passionately fought against the idea both during and after the game, and then went further on Monday Night Football.

The former Manchester United defender was vocal in his criticism of Liverpool, not in terms of Jurgen Klopp of his players, but rather the owners, Fenway Sports Group.

Klopp took his criticism very personally though, firing back at Neville after Liverpool’s 1-1 draw at Leeds United last night.

Klopp suggested that Neville needs to be in a hot seat rather than chasing money throughout his career at Manchester United and then Sky; quite bizarre comments given that Neville came through the United ranks and never pushed for a move elsewhere in search of money.

After that interaction, Neville suggested (10:45pm) that he is on the same side as Klopp, believing that allegiances are off the table now as everyone must join together to fight against the Super League plans.

Neville thinks that even Jamie Carragher could go to Manchester United’s Stretford End and be supported, or believes that he would be supported himself if he turned up on the Anfield Kop despite his long-standing rivalry with the Reds.

“Honestly, he could go and stand on the Stretford End in a protest before the match and he’d be left alone and supported,” said Neville. “I’m not sure I could go and stand on the Kop, but I genuinely believe on this issue, I could go and stand on the Kop and it would be together.”

“On this particular issue, there is a truce, forget it, this is more important. I said before: forget your allegiances,” he added.
