Gary Neville wasn’t best pleased with Arsenal and Liverpool on Sunday, even though they didn’t do anything wrong amid the controversial actions of Brentford’s Ivan Toney.
Both Arsenal and Liverpool actually enjoyed a weekend to remember because they recorded big wins in the Premier League – against Crystal Palace and Bournemouth, respectively.
But what irked the Manchester United legend was another Premier League team, this time Nottingham Forest, writing to the PGMOL and Howard Webb after Ivan Toney’s controversial free-kick goal during Brentford’s 3-2 win on Saturday.
The returning striker, whilst taking a free-kick on the edge of the penalty area, moved the ball and the foam from its original place, with Ivan Toney then going on to score the goal.
For Gary Neville, he put two and two together and came up with Liverpool and Arsenal.
The Sky Sports pundit wrote on Twitter that clubs writing to the PGMOL to complain about decisions is ‘embarrassing’ and he firmly believes that Liverpool and Arsenal started the ‘nonsense’.
There is no doubt that both teams have been involved in major talking points this season.
Go back to Jurgen Klopp’s side’s only defeat this season at Tottenham and THAT Luis Diaz ‘goal’, whilst Arsenal’s biggest controversy was at Newcastle.
There was a big uproar after those matches, with the ripple effects still coming through now, as Gary Neville thinks a worrying trend has started.

“Clubs writing to the PGMOL is embarrassing,” said Neville after Forest became the latest club to do so.
“Liverpool and Arsenal started it and set the precedent of this nonsense.”

Well, as Gary Neville went on another rant about Liverpool and Arsenal, both teams will be looking at the Premier League table with a smile on their faces.
The light will be brighter on Merseyside because the Reds are sitting on top of the tree – Manchester City, Arsenal and Aston Villa are all on 43 points.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have a five-point lead, but Man City have a game in hand and you imagine they are going to revert to type during these coming months.
And with Kevin de Bruyne back in the building, it just changes the whole dynamic for everyone.
But, either way, for the first time in a long time, a multiple title race might now be building up.
