Liverpool left it late to beat Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Sunday.

Gary Neville hilariously apologised on commentary after Jamie Carragher ‘started celebrating’ Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield on Sunday.

In what was an important match for Jurgen Klopp’s Premier League title hopes and Spurs’ top-four hopes, it was the home team that netted a late winner, largely thanks to Mo Salah who forced opposition goalkeeper Hugo Lloris into a mistake.

It meant that the Reds reclaimed top spot in the Premier League after title rivals Manchester City comfortably beat relegation-threatened Fulham on Saturday.

Moments after Liverpool had scored the winner, Carragher expressed his enjoyment by shouting down the mic, ‘Mo Salah you little dancer’ and Neville issued this brilliant response because of his colleague’s reaction:

“Apologies at home someone, a local fan, grabbed the microphone and started celebrating about Mo Salah,” Neville said on Sky Sports (31/03/2019 91st minute) “Apologies for that!

Lead commentator, Martin Tyler said: “Is he sitting just to the left of you?”

“No, he’s up with the Liverpool fans somewhere, I think,” Neville responded.

Carragher’s response to Liverpool’s winning goal isn’t a surprise because it is a big, big moment in the race to win the Premier League title.

The Merseyside club are now two points ahead of City, but their title rivals will move back to the top if they beat relegation-threatened Cardiff City on Wednesday.

Whilst City are still in the driving seat, the Reds have switched the pressure back onto their rivals, who will be well aware that dropped points could prove to be costly.

There are six games to go, both teams are still in the Champions League, but City are still in the FA Cup. The next few weeks are going to be crucial as to who lifts the crown at the end of the campaign.
