Gary Neville has told Sky Sports that he still thinks it is too early to talk up Tottenham Hotspur as title contenders.

Spurs may have beaten Arsenal 2-0 yesterday to keep themselves at the very top of the Premier League table.

However, Neville thinks that Spurs need to sustain this form for a while yet, before they can be considered a genuine threat to Liverpool.

“There’s no doubt, winning these big matches, Jose Mourinho is back in the mix with this Spurs team,” Neville said.

“It’s where he wants to be, competitive. Jose is starting to like this team, he can trust them. But talk of the title might be a bit early.”

Tottenham fans may disagree with Neville, as optimism is really flooding into the North London club now.

Spurs’s results have been nothing short of brilliant in recent weeks, as they have come out a tricky patch of fixtures with seven points.

Tottenham beat Manchester City and Arsenal with solid displays, and also picked up a point away against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Spurs now lead Liverpool on goal difference at the top of the table, with their next league game coming against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, where they will be favourites to pick up another three points.
