And despite his strong United roots, Neville admitted to Sky Sports following the match: “Manchester City deserved it overall. Those first 40 minutes were one of the best I’ve seen in the last few years in the Premier League.
“You’ve got to give credit to Jose Mourinho and Manchester United for coming back into the game, but City withstood the pressure and the counter-attacks.”

City’s win means they are the only current Premier League team to have achieved three or more league victories over a team managed by Jose Mourinho. Surprisingly, Championship side Newcastle United are the only team to have a better winning ratio against Mourinho.
Saturday’s result now takes Pep Guardiola’s side three points clear at the top of the Premier League, while United remain third for the time being.
