Tottenham Hotspur’s record against the big teams in the Premier League is disappointing.
Tottenham Hotspur have a poor record against the big clubs in the Premier League. According to Sky Sports, Spurs have won only nine out of 37 matches Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal in all competitions and Champions League games.
In fact, since August 2014, Tottenham have won just once in 15 away games against the other teams currently in the Premier League top six.
It is clear that the North London club’s record against the big teams in England is disappointing and needs to improve.
Manchester United legend Gary Neville, though, has highlighting two factors which play important roles. The former England international has also said that he has sympathy for Tottenham.
“I don’t think they should be judged the same as the other sides in the top six,” Neville told Sky Sports.
“One, is their net spend is £11m. To transform the mess Pochettino’s done in three years from where Spurs were to where they are now is a big job.
“The second one is why I have a lot of sympathy for them – their average age. It’s the youngest in the division.”
Neville does have a valid point. While it is true that Tottenham do not fare well against the big teams, the fact that they ended up third in the Premier League last season and could claim a Champions League spot this term cannot be ignored.
Tottenham have to pick up maximum points against the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea regularly in order to reach the next level, but at the moment the fans should not be too worried.
