Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Liverpool are aiming to win the Premier League title this season.

Manchester United legend Gary Neville has explained to Sky Sports why Chelsea and Liverpool have the advantage over Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League title race this season.

Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham all are aiming to win the league title this campaign, and so are Manchester City, Arsenal and Manchester United.

As things stand, City, Arsenal and Liverpool are first, second and third respectively in the table with 23 points each and separated only by goal difference.

Antonio Conte’s Chelsea are fourth in the standings with 22 points, while Spurs are two points behind in fifth after 10 rounds of matches in the 2016-17 Premier League campaign.

Former United defender Neville believes that lack of European football gives Chelsea and Liverpool an advantage over Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham, who are playing in the Champions League this season.

“I think the fact that Chelsea have free weeks, and don’t have the confusion and disruption of European football, even though it is a good disruption being in the Champions League or Europa League, it gives them a big advantage,” Neville told Sky Sports.

“It will be an advantage,” added the Englishman. “I think Tottenham are as good as Liverpool, I think Tottenham are as good as Chelsea, there’s no doubt, but because Spurs are in European competition I would put Chelsea and Liverpool ahead of them in the Premier League for that reason.”

However, Tottenham fans should relish the fact that the team are playing in the Champions League this season.

The North London outfit can progress to the last 16 of Europe’s premier club competition this campaign.
