Pundit Gary Neville does not think that Brentford striker Ivan Toney will be signing for Arsenal during this month’s transfer window.
Arsenal weren’t in action this weekend as the Premier League embraces a winter break.
This game week is stretched across two weekends, meaning each side is guaranteed to have one weekend off.
Arsenal fans would have hoped to relax, but seeing Kevin De Bruyne return and inspire a 3-2 Manchester City win over Newcastle United may have spoiled their weekend.
The Gunners haven’t been in great form of late and supporters continue to call for a new striker to be signed this month.
Gary Neville doesn’t think Ivan Toney will sign for Arsenal
One of the most popular names mentioned has been Ivan Toney.
The Brentford striker has been linked with Arsenal for months now and Fabrizio Romano reported way back in September that the Gunners had asked about a deal.
The rumours have died down a little with January now upon us, with Arsenal potentially not planning to spend big this month.
Splashing the cash on Toney would be a risk too; he hasn’t been able to play all season due to a ban for gambling offences.
Toney returns this coming weeks and with Gary Neville looking ahead to seeing the Brentford striker in action again, he has spoken about the Arsenal rumours.

Speaking on the Gary Neville Podcast, Neville suggested that he doesn’t see a ‘huge transfer’ to Arsenal materialising this month.
Neville highlighted that Toney is a ‘brilliant player’ and wants to see him at least see out the season with Brentford before then potentially making a move to the highest level.
“There has been big talk around a huge transfer, potentially to Arsenal,” said Neville. “I don’t see it happening personally, at this point in the season but I think that he’s a brilliant player, isn’t he? I hope Brentford keep him for the rest of this season, I hope Ivan Toney plays at the highest level as well, at some point in the near future,” he added.
Toney, 27, hit 32 goals in two Premier League campaigns for Brentford before being hit with a suspension.
Now gearing up to return again, Toney will be looking to hit the goal trail quickly with Nottingham Forest his first opponents.
Arsenal may be watching closely, but we would be inclined to agree with Neville in suggesting that a move to the Emirates Stadium is surely unlikely to materialise this month.
