Gary Neville has told his self-titled podcast that he doesn’t believe Arsenal will be relegated this season.

Arsenal have slipped so far down the Premier League table than they are now being talked about as a genuine candidate to drop into the bottom three.

As things stand Arsenal are sat just four points above the drop zone, with a clutch of teams below them now breathing down their necks.

But Neville does think that Arsenal will have enough to get themselves away from trouble.

“I don’t think they’ll get relegated but the fact we are even discussing it is a real problem,” he said.

“We know when Arsene Wenger left there would be a transition period. Unai Emery didn’t work, despite he was a great coach.

“Mikel Arteta has demonstrated that he can coach a team and get a team organised but something is not right and it’s difficult to put your finger on it.”

If Arsenal are to start climbing up the table then their results will need to improve dramatically.

Arteta’s side just haven’t carried enough of an attacking threat to win games regularly this season, and they are currently among the lowest scorers in the league.

Things could even get worse for Arsenal before they get better, as their fixture list does not look kind.

Arsenal take on Manchester City in the League Cup tonight, before they face Chelsea in the Premier League on Boxing Day, and they go into both those games as outsiders to pick up a positive result.
