Gary Neville has said that while he rates Declan Rice extremely high, he questions why Arsenal or any interested club would pay a £100 million fee to complete the transfer.
It was reported last Sunday that Mikel Arteta’s side are confident that a deal involving the England international will get over the line.
While Gary Neville has not denied how brilliant Arsenal-linked Declan Rice is, but questions the transfer fee that has been speculated.
Gary Neville questions Declan Rice fee amid Arsenal interest
Up until the accomplished midfielder broke through the ranks at West Ham United, it has been widely acknowledged just how astonishingly talented he is.

But some have voiced their doubts over whether Rice is a player worth breaking the bank for.
Gary Neville is seemingly in both camps, as he had his say on Declan Rice amid the transfer links to Arsenal, saying, “There’s no doubt for West Ham he’s their best player. Influential, been brilliant for England, I think the only sort of criticism comes in reflection than the reality of the fact that the supposed price tag being asked for him is around £100 million.”
“When you get a £100 million player, you expect they are going to be the complete player, so from that point of view is Declan as good as say Rodri or Casemiro receiving the ball from the back four? Is he as good as say Bruno Fernandes going forward, or a player of that ilk? No.”
“He fits in between a little bit of both of them, there’s no doubt he’s an excellent player, great character, someone who is important to his club, but I think the challenge is who’s going to pay £100 million for him and is he that type of value? It’s not so much a criticism, more an observation around his ability relating to that price”, he said on Sky Sports.
Now, one must wait and watch whether Arsenal take their transfer spend to the next level by splashing the cash on Declan Rice, or seemingly agree with Gary Neville.
