Gary Neville faced Glasgow Rangers at Ibrox in the 2003/04 Champions League, and he has now praised the atmosphere.

In a Twitter Q&A, Gary Neville picked out Ibrox as one of the loudest foreign grounds that he played at during his career, having come up against Rangers at the ground in the 2003/04 Champions League.
On that night, the Gers were beaten 1-0 by Manchester United with his brother Phil Neville scoring the decisive goal. It was, admittedly, not to be the best year in the competition for the Light Blues.
After beating Stuttgart 2-1 in their opening group game – Christian Nerlinger and Peter Lovenkrands helped Rangers come from behind on that occasion – they only managed to pick up one more point in their remaining five games.

They finished bottom of the group in a year that saw the competition ultimately won by the current Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho, who was in charge of Porto at the time.
It may not be a season that lives long in the memory of many Rangers fans, but it is clearly a campaign that saw the Scottish Premiership side make an impression on Neville.
