Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Moussa Sissoko was in wonderful form for Mauricio Pochettino’s side again yesterday.

Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville looks on prior to the Premier League match between Manchester City and Chelsea at Etihad Stadium on March 4, 2018 in Manchester, England.

Gary Neville has told Sky Sports, during their live coverage of Tottenham Hotspur’s match against Everton, that Moussa Sissoko’s career with Mauricio Pochettino’s side was almost over.

Sissoko has now been with Spurs for two and a half seasons, but it is only this term where he has really proven his worth.

The French midfielder has become an integral part of Tottenham’s team, with his quality starting to come to the fore.

And Neville believes that Sissoko was one of the beneficiaries from Tottenham’s controversial decision not to sign any players in the summer.

He said: “If they had of signed a player or two it might have been the end of Sissoko, but through not signing players you persist, show patience and develop them. Sissoko is now having his best ever season and he would have been dubbed a failure if they had replaced him over the summer.”

Spurs are the only team in Premier League history to go a whole summer without making an addition, but it does not seem to have held them back.

Tottenham have enjoyed a wonderful first half of the campaign, and they remain in the title fight.

Spurs won 6-2 against Everton yesterday to move to within two points of Manchester City in the Premier League table.

Pochettino’s side are next in action on Boxing Day, when they take on Bournemouth at Wembley.
