Gary Neville has suggested that the Liverpool fans would probably say ‘the best moment’ of their 5-0 win at Old Trafford was in fact Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal being ruled offside, as he told Super Sunday on Sky Sports.

It was one of the most memorable and historical wins for Liverpool over the weekend, as they not only beat their bitter rivals, but well and truly battered them.

From a hat-trick to Mo Salah, to being 4-0 up inside 45 minutes, it was an utterly ruthless performance from the Merseyside club.

One other moment of the game the Liverpool fans really enjoyed was when Ronaldo’s goal, just after the break, was ruled out for offside.

Neville suggested that it was probably ‘the best moment’ for the Liverpool faithful of the game.

“I think it’s just offside,” said Neville. “Andy Robertson just over that far side – he is offside.

“Ask the Liverpool fans, at the end of the game the best moment of the match, they would probably say that.”

Whatever Liverpool fans want to pick as their best moment, they have so many options to choose from and these are stories they can tell for years and years to come.

There’s no doubt that Jurgen Klopp’s side would have backed themselves to get three points at Old Trafford before the game, given how they started the season.

But not many, if anyone, would have predicted such an annihilation, which is now seeing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s role at Manchester United being under threat.

It shouldn’t really be a surprise because, only if you are Sir Alex Ferguson, should you be able to survive such a beating.
