Gary Neville told Sky Sports during their live coverage of Liverpool’s draw against Manchester United on Sunday that Thiago Alcantara ‘dominated’ the first 20 minutes of the contest.

But the former right-back feels that Liverpool’s technician went ‘quieter’ as the game wore on before bursting into life now and again.

Liverpool need a player like Thiago working his magic if they are to end their recent drought in front of goal.

This is the brief reaction from Neville to Thiago’s performance yesterday against the current Premier League leaders.

“Well, he dominated the game for 20 minutes,” said Neville. “The first 20 minutes of the game but we haven’t seen too much of him.

“He has gone quieter but then he just comes alive.”

Even though it’s January, Liverpool supporters haven’t seen as much of Thiago as they would have liked because of his injury problems.

But their £25 million man [Sky Sports] is back on the field and ready to showcase why he has a European Cup medal in his cabinet.

It doesn’t help that two key Liverpool midfielders – Jordan Henderson and Fabinho – have to play at the back because they would make a formidable trio in the middle of the park.
