Pundit Gary Neville has praised Tottenham Hotspur left back Destiny Udogie after an ‘electric’ performance against Newcastle United.
Tottenham Hotspur have got back to winning ways having beaten Newcastle United 4-1 in North London on Sunday.
Destiny Udogie opened the scoring from close range before Richarlison bagged a brace, scoring either side of the half-time whistle.
Son Heung-min scored number four and whilst Newcastle pulled one back, it wasn’t taking the shine off a superb Spurs win.

Ange Postecoglou will be relieved, especially having seen Tottenham take the lead and build on the advantage.
In Tottenham’s five-game winless run, they actually took the lead in every single game before failing to win.
Spurs fans would have felt a certain level of fear after Udogie’s opener but Tottenham were able to pull clear of Newcastle and secure the win.
Udogie will be delighted to have scored his first Premier League goal and he certainly impressed Gary Neville with his performance.
Speaking on Sky Sports (10/12, 17:55), Neville compared Udogie to former Manchester United star Patrice Evra in terms of how he can beat opponents on the inside.
Neville added that Udogie deserved his goal having been ‘fantastic’ in the opening 25 minutes of the game, hailing him for his attacking movements.
Neville also called Udogie ‘electric’ for his performance, naming him as Tottenham’s ‘bright spark’ in the first half.
“He’s really good at beating a man on the inside, Udogie,” said Neville. “He really reminds me of how Patrice Evra used to do it at left back back for Manchester United.”
“They have deserved that, Spurs, and he’s deserved it – Udogie has been fantastic in the first 25 minutes for Spurs. That is the movement of an attacking midfield player, not a left back.”
“Udogie has been the bright spark in this first half, electric to watch from up here,” he added.
Tottenham must be delighted with Udogie and his start to life in the Premier League.
Spurs paid just £15million to sign Udogie from Udinese in 2022 but allowed him to spend last season on loan with the Serie A club.
Now Tottenham’s first-choice left back, Udogie is showing quality not just going forward, but also as a defender.
Udogie is learning a new way to play at left back under Postecoglou, almost playing as an attacking midfielder at times.
Sunday’s goal showed the positive development Udogie is making and Neville’s praise goes to show how he is improving with Premier League exposure.
