The German centre-back has impressed since joining Arsenal in the summer transfer window.
Speaking to the Metro, Gary Neville has backed Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi to become a fantastic defender.
The centre-back joined the Gunners in the summer transfer window in a big-money move from Valencia.
He has since proven to be an extremely smart purchase by Arsene Wenger, forming a formidable defensive partnership with Laurent Koscielny.
That strong partnership has been a cornerstone of Arsenal’s strong start to the season, with them joint top of their Champions League group and two points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool.

Neville worked with the German defender during his ill-fated spell in charge of Valencia and has backed his former player to continue improving.
“Mustafi has got an incredible amount of natural ability and talent,” he told the Metro.
“[He’s got] good physical capability and I think with age and maturity he will grow into being a fantastic defender. He’s got all the attributes you would want.”

The former Manchester United full-back also believes that playing alongside Laurent Koscielny will help Mustafi to continue growing.
The French centre-back has been one of Arsene Wenger’s best signings since arriving at the Emirates in 2010, with many believing he is among the best centre-backs in the Premier League.
And Neville has backed Mustafi to get better and better playing alongside the Frenchman.
“I think that ultimately it will help him playing along Koscielny who has got experience there playing at Arsenal. I think he’s got all the makings of it,” he added.
