Tottenham Hotspur are third in the Premier League currently after thrashing Liverpool 4-1 at Wembley.
Spurs have recovered from a slow start to the campaign in some style in recent weeks, having won eight of their last 10 games in all competitions, and having avoided defeat since the second weekend of the season.
With 16 goals scored in their last six games – including four in the games against Huddersfield and Liverpool – Mauricio Pochettino’s men are having absolutely no problem getting the fans on their feet. And that enthralling style of play has led Manchester United legend Neville to suggest that he would like to see Spurs reach the summit of the domestic game.
“I hope they can win the league because they play well enough to win the league but I think in the end it will be too much for them and that’s my honest opinion.”
It would be an incredible shame if this current Tottenham side were unable to clear that final hurdle that has seemingly proved just a little too big for them over the last couple of years – but the signs this season suggest that they may be ready to put up their best effort yet in the Premier League title race.
The stunning victory over Liverpool on Sunday leaves Pochettino’s side third in the table, but they are four points clear of their nearest rivals and only below United on goal difference.
And if Manchester City’s form drops off in the same fashion as last season after their incredible start – though that would be hugely surprising – then perhaps December’s meeting between the two clubs could be a vital moment in Spurs’ season.
