Former Scotland full back Gary Naysmith has told The Scottish Sun that he thinks Kieran Tierney has taken his game to a different level this season – but he has been really impressed with Rangers’ Lee Wallace too.

Scotland take on Lithuania in a vital World Cup qualifier at Hampden Park this evening, with Gordon Strachan’s men hoping to build on the 5-1 win at Malta last month.

Strachan has a number of selection decisions to make ahead of this evening’s game, and he has plenty of competition for places at left back.

Scotland have three left backs in their squad; Hull City’s Andrew Robertson, Celtic’s Kieran Tierney, and Rangers captain Lee Wallace.

Robertson is the favourite to start having not only impressed for Scotland but also in the Premier League with Hull, but Tierney and Wallace have now been praised.

Ex-Scotland left back Gary Naysmith, who racked up 46 caps for his country, has told The Scottish Sun that he feels Celtic starlet Tierney has taken his game to a different level this season.

The 19-year-old has come up through the ranks with the Bhoys, and his performances have attracted Premier League interest – but he isn’t the only Scotland-based left back praised by Naysmith.

Naysmith has admitted that he is ‘really impressed’ with Lee Wallace, praising him for being a really steady defender, as well as a dangerous attacking outlet.

“You watch Kieran week in, week out for Celtic and he’s taken his game to a different level this season,” said Naysmith. “He’s playing Champions League football and it’s fantastic what he’s achieved for someone so young.”

“I also see a lot of Lee and I’ve been really impressed with him. He’s a really steady defender and he’s great going forward too,” he added.
