Rangers star made a statement in win over Celtic.
Rangers midfielder Ross McCrorie had a chastening experience against Celtic in last season’s Scottish Cup semi-final.
Sent off in the first half at Hampden, it was a day to forget the the Rangers youngster.
McCrorie wiped that bad memory away with a terrific performance for Rangers against Celtic at the end of December as Ryan Jack fired the Gers to a memorable 1-0 victory at Ibrox.
Rangers assistant coach Gary McAllister has been raving about McCrorie’s performance.
He told Rangers’ official website: “The facts are that any moment a Celtic player thought he had time to get his head up and hit a pass, and they have many players who have got ability to hit that killer pass, they never got it and that was purely down to Ross.
“He simply didn’t let the Celtic players breathe and in the previous games to the Celtic game I thought he was outstanding in them as well.
“He’ll get better in possession of the football and that’s something he’s very keen on working hard at.
“You have got to remember he is still ever is so young and he’s played quite a few games now, but there is still much more to come from Ross.”
McCrorie had a slow start to the season with Rangers easing him back into the starting XI.
He made his breakthrough last year but his confidence took a knock as Rangers’ form went on the slide at the end of the campaign.
Competition for places in midfield at Rangers has never been tougher, and McCrorie will have to work even harder after Steven Davis’ arrival, with Glen Kamara soon to join him.
