Dundee United were reportedly interested in signing Gary Mackay-Steven from Celtic in the January transfer window.

Celtic winger Gary Mackay-Steven has explained to The Daily Mail why he did not leave the club in the January transfer window.
According to The Daily Mail, Dundee United wanted to sign Mackay-Steven on loan from Celtic in January.
The 26-year-old Scotsman has explained his decision to remain at Celtic Park and fight for his place.
“I wanted to be here and the manager wanted me here, too,” Mackay-Steven told The Daily Mail. “I was injured at the start of the season.
“I had an operation on my ankle and I didn’t make my first appearance until December, so I hadn’t had a lot of time to get up to speed.
“This season has brought a lot of big games and great moments and I wanted to be part of that going forward.”
Mackay-Steven is a good winger, and he could be rewarded for deciding to fight for his place at Celtic instead of going to another club on loan.
Celtic are at the top of the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 79 points from 27 matches.
Brendan Rodgers’s side are as many as 27 points clear of second-placed Aberdeen and are running away with the league title this season.
The Hoops will return to action on Sunday afternoon when they take on St Mirren at Celtic Park in the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup.
Celtic should be able to win the match and progress to the semi-finals of the prestigious competition.
