Gary Lineker has praised Aston Villa on Twitter for their win against Liverpool on Sunday evening.

The former Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City striker has also responded on the social networking site when asked if the Villans are serious contenders for the Premier League title this season.

Villa stunned defending English champions Liverpool 7-2 at Villa Park in the Premier League on Sunday evening.

Not many will have expected the result, and Lineker has praised Dean Smith’s side and has responded when asked if the Villans can win the title this season.

Meanwhile, former Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has praised Jack Grealish for his performance against the Reds.

The England international attacking midfielder scored twice for Smith’s team against the Merseyside club.

Realistic target this season

True, Leicester won the Premier League title in 2016, but it is hard to see Villa repeat the Foxes’ achievements during the 2020-21 campaign.

Pushing for a top-10 finish in the Premier League should probably be the target of the Villans, who are now second in the league table with nine points from three matches.
