Gary Lineker has taken to Twitter to give his reaction to Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea making an interesting request ahead of the FA Cup tie against Middlesbrough this coming weekend.
Chelsea will take on Middlesbrough away from home at the Riverside Stadium in the sixth round of the FA Cup on Saturday.
As reported by The Guardian, Chelsea have requested that the FA Cup quarter-final tie against Boro be played behind closed doors.
The reason is that Chelsea, who won the Champions League last season, are banned from selling tickets to their fans due to sanctions on Roman Abramovich.
The Premier League club have been granted a special licence to continue operating, but they cannot sell new tickets.
This means that there will be no Chelsea fans at the Riverside Stadium.
As things stand.
Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Lineker does not think that the FA will accept Chelsea’s request.

Boro fans should not suffer
In our opinion, the FA should turn down Chelsea’s request to play the game between closed doors.
Why should Middlesbrough be penalised for the problems that Chelsea are facing?
Boro fans would love to see their team in action against a top-level side like Chelsea.
Why should the Middlesbrough supporters have to suffer for what’s happening at Chelsea?
