Gary Lineker last night lauded Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe following the Toon’s 2-1 result against Tottenham as the Magpies climbed up to fourth in the Premier League.

Taking to Twitter, the former England international and captain was full of praise for the Premier League boss as Newcastle won 2-1 on the road in north London, with Callum Wilson and Miguel Almiron once again on the scoresheet as Tottenham were unable to claim any points.

Howe has been nothing short of a revelation for Newcastle since his appointment last year, with the former AFC Bournemouth manager improving numerous players in the squad and adding some quality additions to the team through the transfer market.

Almiron, in particular, has enjoyed quite the season, with the Paraguayan international scoring five goals in his last five Premier League appearances, smashing his personal record for strikes in the English top flight. Moreover, Joelinton’s move from attack to midfield has also been inspired.

And Newcastle’s latest result against Tottenham was a collective effort from all the improvements Howe has made to the squad, with the win taking the Toon into the top-four as belief is now starting to grow that the northeast side could actually finish in a European spot this season.

There were some concerns when Newcastle decided to appoint Howe as their first manager of the PIF regime. Yet one year later, and the decision has been nothing short of a masterstroke, with the English coach the right fit to lead the Magpies into this exciting generation.

The 44-year-old has nailed every signing in the transfer market and has brought up the level of many existing players at the club before his arrival, and under Howe’s leadership, Newcastle have a real chance of finishing in a European spot as early as this season.
