Gary Lineker has taken to Twitter to weigh in on the controversy surrounding David Luiz’s red card being upheld, whereas Jan Bednarek’s wasn’t.
If you aren’t aware, the £8 million Brazilian was dismissed against Wolves for tripping Willian Jose when he was through on goal.
Bednarek was given his marching orders for doing the same to Anthony Martial – however, both incidents involved minor, if any, contact.
As a result, the FA approved Southampton’s appeal of the red card, which means the Poland international is now free to face Newcastle.

However, despite the offences being practically identical, the FA decided not to rescind David Luiz’s red card, in what was a bizarre decision.
Lineker clearly feels that the decision was strange too, judging by his 10-word tweet which you can see below.
In our view, there’s no way that the FA can justify rescinding one of the dismissals, but not both.
Realistically, both should’ve been upheld, or both players should’ve been let off the hook – not one of each.

Mikel Arteta can still call upon Rob Holding and Gabriel Magalhães to face Aston Villa tomorrow, although it’s the principle of the matter.
The lack of consistency on show by the FA is incredibly alarming, and Arsenal can feel very hard done by.
