Gary Lineker has praised Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold on Twitter for his performance against Leeds United at Elland Road in the Premier League on Monday evening.

The former Tottenham Hotspur striker was impressed by how England international right-back Alexander-Arnold performed in midfield for Liverpool against Leeds.

Jurgen Klopp’s side got the better of the West Yorkshire club 6-1.

The 24-year-old provided two assists.

Although Alexander-Arnold started the match at right-back, the Englishman did operate more as a roaming midfielder and was really brilliant in that role.

Match of the Day presenter Lineker has long advocated using Alexander-Arnold in midfield, and he was pleased to see Klopp do so against Leeds.

HITC Verdict: Impressive

In our view, Trent Alexander-Arnold is one of the best passers of the ball, and we believe that he could be a weapon in midfield for Liverpool.

Now, of course, playing as a right-back and in midfield is very different.

Just because the 24-year-old has a very good passing range and is doing well in midfield means that he is going to be excellent in that role week in and week out and season after season.

There is more to playing in midfield than just passing the ball well.

However, the early signs are very positive that Alexander-Arnold could flourish in midfield in the long run.
