Tottenham Hotspur legend Gary Lineker has mocked Arsenal on social networking site Twitter.

Lineker has jokingly claimed that West Bromwich Albion’s defeat to Liverpool at the weekend should secure the seventh place in the Premier League table for Arsenal.

The Baggies suffered a 1-0 defeat to Liverpool at The Hawthorns in the league on Sunday afternoon, thanks to Roberto Firmino’s goal in first-half injury time.

Arsenal are seventh in the league table at the moment with 54 points from 30 matches, 10 points clear of eighth-placed West Brom, who have played three more games.

Arsenal are one of the biggest clubs in the world and regularly finish in the top four of the Premier League, but there is a distinct possibility that they are not going to end up in the Champions League places this campaign.

Arsene Wenger’s side will return to action on Monday evening when they take on relegation candidates Middlesbrough away from home at the Riverside Stadium in the Premier League.
