Gary Lineker posted on Twitter that he thinks Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka was ‘superb’ as England were knocked out of the Qatar World Cup to France on Saturday.

If Arsenal fans didn’t know it, Saka took up a different sport last night – combat sport.

Given the nature in which the French players kept physically handling and fouling the Arsenal academy product, you would have thought the rules of football had changed just for him on that night.

The 21-year-old caused the world champions all sorts of problems, including winning a second-half penalty.

But, in truth, a lot more should have gone his way because he was fouled time and time again, including for France’s opening goal.

Whilst Gareth Southgate’s side head for the exit door, Saka can hold his head high, as Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker was full of praise for the player.

SAKA’S GAME HAS GONE UP A LEVEL

It’s another early exit for England, and for some, it’s going to be hard to pick themselves up because Premier League football returns in only a few weeks.

But Saka should lift his head high because he was outstanding throughout the tournament.

The Hale-End star cooked during the group stages, and against France, he could argue that he was England’s best player.

Either way, it’s now domestic football for Saka, as Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have a Premier League title to win.
