Gary Lineker used the word ‘sensational’ on Twitter to describe Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka during England’s stunning 6-2 World Cup win over Iran at the 2022 World Cup on Monday.
It was a rampant display from Gareth Southgate’s side and Arsenal’s very own was at the heart of it all.
In his first start on a World Cup stage, Saka netted a brace, including a brilliant half-volley which added to Jude Bellingham’s headed opener.
Before he fronted up the Iranians in the second half by dancing one way, then the other inside the penalty area, before calmly slotting home for his second and, at the time, England’s fourth.
Watching from Qatar, Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker was left impressed by Saka’s goal.

This is the biggest stage Saka will play on during his career and he has showcased his worth in fine style on that World Cup stage.
Gareth Southgate decided to start the 21-year-old over many attacking options he had to choose from, with Jack Grealish and Phil Foden sat on the bench.
But that’s three points on the board for the Three Lions, top of Group B and the pressure eased as they prepare to take on the USA next.
