In June, Hugo Lloris will find himself out of contract with Tottenham yet to agree a new deal for their loyal shot-stopper.
As a result, it seems Nuno Espirito Santo and Fabio Paratici have been drawing up a list of replacements, just in case a deal cannot be struck.
What’s the story?
Well, there are four goalkeepers on Tottenham’s list, according to the Independent.
Emiliano Martinez, Sam Johnstone, Alex Meret and Alex Remiro are all on Tottenham’s shortlist, with the Aston Villa man Nuno’s No.1 choice.
Martinez – who cost the Villans £17m – has risen from relative obscurity at Arsenal to become one of the best goalkeepers in Europe.
The £47,000-a-week man impressively kept 15 clean sheets in the Premier League last season, before helping Argentina and Lionel Messi win the Copa America.
During that tournament, Gary Lineker called the 29-year-old ‘brilliant’ as his heroics in the penalty shootout secured the trophy.
Emiliano Martinez would be great for Tottenham

It will be a hugely difficult deal to pull off, in our view, although if Paratici can get Martinez to north London, it would be a fantastic move.
The 12-cap Argentina international has kept three clean sheets in eight Premier League appearances this season, as he continues his efforts from last term.
Martinez was also recently nominated for the 2021 Yachine Trophy, which is effectively the Ballon d’Or for goalkeepers.

The likes of Manuel Neuer and Alisson were also on the shortlist.
Furthermore, at 29, Martinez is a great age to be signed, as he could easily be Tottenham’s No.1 for the next decade.
Keep an eye on this saga, as it will be very interesting to see if Spurs can pull this off.
