Liverpool were tipped to batter Manchester United ahead of their meeting at Anfield on Tuesday evening, and boy did they deliver.

The Reds may not have won by five like they did at Old Trafford, but in many ways, it was a more dominant performance.

The Anfield outfit barely got out of second gear, and they still managed to put four past their biggest rivals while Ralf Rangnick’s side barely got a sniff at goal.

To put it bluntly, this was one of the most one-sided Premier League matches you’re likely to ever see.

After full-time Gary Lineker took to Twitter to give his thoughts on the game, and he perfectly summed up proceedings in just 18 words.

Lineker says that this was a demolition job, and that’s an incredibly apt description of this game.

Liverpool didn’t just win this one in style, they did it in such a professional manner to the point where the result was never in doubt.

Luis Diaz put Jurgen Klopp’s side 1-0 up after five minutes, and from that moment onwards, United looked well beaten.

The Red Devils had a mini-resurgence in the second-half, but Sadio Mane’s exceptional goal quickly put a stop to that, while Mohamed Salah making it 4-0 made sure that this would be a game to remember.

As Lineker says, Liverpool were a joy to watch on Tuesday, and as for United, the less said the better…
