To say that Michael Jordan is one of the greatest figures in sports would clearly be an understatement, but one can only get a true measure of the man when listening to what other leading athletes have said about him.
Indeed, while former England striker Gary Lineker is clearly not as much of a household name on a global basis but there’s little doubt the 65-year-old is one of the most respected pundits in Britain.
As such, his words carry weight and Lineker has named Jordan as one of his top five dream guests to have on his podcast.
Lineker says Jordan has an “incredible personality”
Lineker’s show ‘The Rest is Football’ is one of the most popular sports podcasts in Britain.
Over the course of his career, Lineker has talked to some of the most famous footballers on the planet but NBA great Jordan is among the first people he named as dream guests he’d love to have on his show.
After Lineker named Muhammad Ali and Nelson Mandela as dream guests, Jordan was his third choice.
Lineker revealed that the two had previously played golf together and that he was impressed by Jordan’s “incredible personality.”
Asked by Bleacher Report, Lineker said: “I played golf with him once and he is an incredible personality.”
After Jordan, Lineker named chef Gordon Ramsay and Brazil legend Pele as his other dream guests.
It is hardly surprising to hear that Jordan is a brilliant golfer, too.
One of the fiercest competitors to have ever played sports is hardly going to do things by half measures, of course.
Jordan is reportedly a near-scratch golfer, and his handicap reportedly puts him in the top 1% of all amateur players.
Having conquered almost everything he has set his mind to, his prowess on the course is not exactly difficult to imagine.
Lineker, it’s fair to say, was very impressed indeed.
