Gary Lineker has taken to Twitter to react after hearing about Aston Villa’s generosity towards Barrow, their Carabao Cup second round opponents.
What’s the story?
Well, the Villans have very kindly donated their share of the gate receipts to the League Two outfit, following their 6-0 win over The Bluebirds.
Barrow made the announcement on their official website, in which it was revealed that Aston Villa donated their 45% cut of the sold out clash.
You can see what Lineker thought of the kind act below.
Speaking about the gesture, Barrow Chairman Paul Hornby described the money as ‘crucial’ to the League Two side.
After COVID-19 wrecked havoc on the Football League’s finances, we’re sure that Aston Villa’s 45% donation will do wonders for Barrow.
Others should learn from Aston Villa’s kindness towards Barrow

It’s such a difficult time for lower-league clubs.
As a result, we think Premier League clubs who encounter a Football League side in the next few years must be made to do what Aston Villa did.
The income from Premier League TV deals is astronomical, and allows the likes of Crystal Palace to make £32m signings like Christian Benteke.

Despite the pandemic, that money is still coming in, so the least top-flight teams can do is share the wealth and let it trickle down the football ladder.
If this doesn’t happen, it just unsettles the playing field even more.
Those below the Premier League could well go extinct in years to come, unless they are supported in every way possible by those better off.
