Gary Lineker has taken to Twitter to share a one-word verdict on the Fantasy Premier League situation surrounding Jack Grealish and Aston Villa.
The England international missed the 2-1 defeat to Leicester on Sunday after suffering an injury in training.
However, as documented by the Leicester Mercury, Brendan Rodgers was already aware that the Villa No.10 might be absent before kick-off.
How?
Well, news of a potential injury to Grealish hit social media after supporters noticed that Villa’s players and staff members had removed the 25-year-old from their Fantasy Premier League squads.
After hearing about this, Lineker posted the following one-word tweet.
For those of you who don’t know, Fantasy Football is a game which involves selecting an XI of players, within a budget, and you receive points depending on what they do in real life.
Goals, assists and clean sheets win you points, whereas yellow or red cards, as well as own goals, would lose you points.
Villa’s players have now been banned from playing the game, as revealed by The Times.
In our view, other Premier League clubs could follow suit.
The last thing a Premier League manager wants is for his team news to be leaked, so if Fantasy Football is a potential gateway for that to happen, then surely clubs will think it’s easier to just ban it.
Having said that, we think a better solution would be to simply ban players from selecting themselves or fellow teammates in the game.
