Tottenham Hotspur released season ticket prices for their new stadium this week.

Tottenham Hotspur’s new stadium is edging closer to being ready for next season and this week the club released season ticket prices.

The Mail report prices will range from £875 to £1,995 with the upper end being the most expensive anywhere in the country.

A Tottenham supporters group has criticised the costs, warning fans who have long stood together will be scattered about, and fears the team may struggle to fill the ground later down the line if results do not stay strong.

The Tottenham Hotspur Supporter’s Trust wrote on their website: “The club believes it will fill the stadium with this pricing policy. That may well be the case in our first season with a successful, entertaining team but the novelty may wear off after the first season, particularly if performance on the pitch falls short.

“With fans already contacting us saying they are priced out, we cannot view this as anything other than a missed opportunity.”

Match of the Day host and former Spurs striker Gary Lineker had stern words for Tottenham over the issue.

Unfortunately for supporters, Tottenham have invested so much money into the construction of their new stadium that they need the high gate receipts in order for it to help repay its cost.

Tottenham are in a strong position on the pitch and can be confident they can sell out the 62,000 seater ground, having filled the higher capacity Wembley Stadium this season several times.

The novelty of the stadium is unlikely to wear off any time soon, and Tottenham will not have to worry about empty seats for a little while.

Only if fans vote with their feet and do not take up the prices, then will the club consider lowering them.
