Everton may be about to step up their interest in a certain Denzel Dumfries.
According to Eindhoven Dagblad earlier this month, Everton are interested in signing the Netherlands international.
And with the Dutch having been eliminated from Euro 2020 by the Czech Republic tonight, it allows Dumfries to now focus on his future.
Despite the 2-0 defeat, the PSV Eindhoven defender had a solid game.
And here’s what Gary Lineker wrote on Twitter about the player:
Benitez incoming
Dumfries, who is valued at £13 million, won’t be going to the Toffees so long as their manager situation remains unclear.
Carlo Ancelotti quit his role at Goodison Park earlier this summer to take the Real Madrid job after just the one full season on Merseyside.
It was a bit of a shock from Everton’s perspective, but the Blues look set to appoint Rafael Benitez as the Italian coach’s replacement.
According to Sky Sports, the former Liverpool boss will sign on the dotted line at Everton over the coming days and once that happens, he and Marcel Brands – who knows Dumfries from his time with the Dutch club – can liase on recruitment matters.
But until there’s a manager, Dumfries won’t be committing himself to the Toffees.
