Gary Lineker has lauded the qualities of Tottenham Hotspur winger, Dejan Kulusevski.

The Match of the Day pundit spoke about Dejan Kulusevski’s qualities on the ball and how ‘it’s hard to take the ball off him’, as he told The Rest Is Football Podcast.

On Friday night, the £25 million signing from Juventus continued his fine form in the campaign when he scored and assisted during Tottenham’s win over Nottingham Forest.

It needs to be noted that this was a player who was previously struggling in Turin and not even being able to earn starts for Juventus.

But it was Spurs, then managed by Antonio Conte, who took the punt on him and brought him in on an initial loan deal.

It all proved to be a masterstroke because, during his first few months at Hotspur Way, he helped the team to Champions League football by pipping Arsenal to fourth spot.

And now Gary Lineker, when talking about Dejan Kulusevski’s style, compared him to Manchester City’s expert ball-carrier, Jack Grealish

Dejan Kulusevski on the ball

“I must say, I do enjoy watching their football,” said Lineker. “Ange ball is great, isn’t it?! It’s refreshing, regardless of what happens, we are going to go for it.

“Kulusevski has run more than any other player this season – it’s hard to get the ball off him. A little bit like Grealish in a way, in that he is strong and powerful.”

Dealing with the pressure without Harry Kane

When the England captain headed for the Spurs exit door, one of the biggest worries was, who will score the goals?

Whilst you expected the club to compete, the speed and quality with which they are already doing it under Ange Postecoglou is pretty incredible.

The style of play is one of the best to watch in the Premier League, but the players deserve credit for taking it all on board.

It needs to be noted that before Postecoglou arrived, Kulusevski was going through a bad patch.

But he has now found his feet again and, other than Son Heung-min, he is probably Tottenham’s most important forward player.
