Gary Lineker has reacted on Twitter to the idea of Cristiano Ronaldo joining Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Football fans are waking up this morning to a shock link between Wolves and the Juventus superstar.
But it stems from a comment by Troy Deeney, who told talkSPORT that the Molineux club should seriously consider bringing Ronaldo to the West Midlands.
A number of publications are running the quotes and fans are talking about it on Twitter.
But Lineker doesn’t believe that it’s ever going to happen.
Here’s how the Match of the Day host reacted on Twitter:
In fairness to Deeney, there is a major Portuguese contingent at Wolves.
Wanderers boast no fewer than nine of Ronaldo’s compatriots in their first-team squad this season, not to mention manager Nuno Espirito Santo.
The iconic attacker turns 36 in February and there have been suggestions that this will be his last season in Italy.
Despite his age, we’re talking about one of the game’s best-ever players and the former Manchester United star might not turn down a return to the Premier League if it came his way.
