Gary Lineker has taken to Twitter to react after Liverpool held a minute-long applause for Ukraine before the Premier League clash with West Ham.

What’s the story?

Well, the BBC Match of the Day host could hear the Liverpool fans singing You’ll Never Walk Alone at Anfield during the applause for Ukraine.

It was a touching show of unity from the Anfield faithful, who also arrived at the game with flags to show their support for Ukraine in their fight against Russia.

Lineker was certainly moved by the Liverpool fans, as he took to Twitter to praise them for their show of solidarity with Ukraine.

It was great to see the Liverpool supporters get behind Ukraine in this manner – Chelsea fans could learn a thing or two from them.

Earlier today at Turf Moor, the Chelsea fans could be heard chanting the name of Roman Abramovich during the applause for Ukraine.

Given the Russian oligarch’s links to Vladimir Putin, it was a horrible decision from the Blues supporters, to say the least.

Lineker also commented on that – you can see the 61-year-old’s tweet in full below.

It was a tasteless move from the Chelsea fans, and everyone who participated in the chant should be ashamed of themselves.

Liverpool showed their class before West Ham clash

Liverpool fans know how to create an atmosphere, and they conjured up some beautiful scenes during the minute-long applause for Ukraine.

It was great to see, and it seemed to spur the Reds on as they proceeded to deliver an impressive first-half display against West Ham.

Sadio Mané opened the scoring with a poacher’s finish, while Luis Diaz also shone as he continues to impress for his new side.

Without question, Jürgen Klopp has created a fantastic setup at Liverpool.
